An important holiday in Guatemala is Dia de los Santos, or Day of the Saints. On November 1st, families across the country celebrate the lives of those passed with parties, parades and most importantly, food!
In fall of 2020, travel to Antigua with StoveTeam on our annual trip during the Day of the Saints and experience colorful culture and meaningful volunteering. While in Antigua, you will stay at the beautiful San Jose el Viejo Spanish School. Each day will begin with one-on-one Spanish lessons to inspire you to engage and communicate with locals. In the afternoons, expect to get your hands dirty while building stoves at StoveTeam’s partner factory, EcoComal.
During your time with StoveTeam, you will see the full circle of a fuel-efficient cookstove. Over the course of a week, you will learn each step about how to build an ecocina cookstove. At the end of your visit, you will then help to bring the completed stoves to a nearby community and have the opportunity to meet the recipients whose kitchens will forever be changed by this new addition. The gift of a stove will allow families to spend each Día de los Santos to come gathered together in a safe kitchen, free of harmful smoke.
By reserving a spot on a StoveTeam trip, you will not only explore beautiful Antigua but also be impacted in the long run. After 10 days with us, we hope that you will become a cookstove advocate, sharing with friends and family your first-hand understand about the dangers of open fires and the life-changing impact of a fuel-efficient cookstove.
Trip price is $1,600/person (double occupancy) and does not include airfare. Price will include all costs for room and board (except alcohol), transportation, and excursions.
