Ecocina selected for Winrock International study

Every stove project faces the challenge of adoption, regardless of the cultural appropriateness and efficiency of their stove design. StoveTeam was one of only three organizations selected from more than 70 applicants to host a formal training and field study at the EcoComal factory in Guatemala to measure and understand household use of the Ecocina through field surveys and stove use monitors. This study will take place in the spring of 2016 and improve our understanding of Ecocina use among Guatemalan families.

Volunteer spotlight - Lynne Wintermute

Lynne Wintermute has participated in two volunteer trips with StoveTeam. She recently returned from Antigua where she studied Spanish and worked making stoves. Lynne is an active Rotarian with the Lake Oswego Rotary Club, where she serves as International Service Chair. She has been working with StoveTeam to write grants to fund new factory projects in Chiapas and Veracruz.

"One of the many highlights for me was following the entire process from building the stoves to delivering them and being invited in to the ladies homes, in complete poverty they were so welcoming and grateful for their beautiful new stove."

Thank you, Lynne, for all your dedication and hard work to bring clean cookstoves to the world!

Join us in Antigua this spring

There are only four spaces left for the March 5 – 13, 2016 StoveTeam volunteer trip to Antigua, Guatemala. Volunteers will travel to Antigua and experience the long held traditions of La Cuaresma (Lent), when locals adorn the streets with colorful sawdust and flower carpets for processions in anticipation of Semana Santa (Holy Week) and Easter.

The trip includes a week of language school, stove construction, and sightseeing. Reserve a spot today and join us on this life-changing trip! For more information or pricing visit our trip posting or contact Kim Forrest.
