We're thrilled to introduce you to our new public relations intern, Makaya Pratt!
Makaya is a sophomore at the University of Oregon studying Public Relations and Business. She was born and raised in Eugene and is an active participant and advocate of the local business scene. Makaya has a passion for bargain shopping, her faith, community service, campus ministry, eating frozen yogurt (almost every day), and spending time with her family and friends.
In the summer of 2009, Makaya and her mother opened Flipside Apparel Exchange in Springfield, Oregon. Since then, she has been a buyer, social media manager, and visual merchandiser for the shop. The experience she has gained from opening the shop has furthered her knowledge in small business management and sustainable development.
Makaya become aware of StoveTeam International due to her participation in the University of Oregon’s Alternative Spring Breaks program, which facilitates groups with service-learning trips. StoveTeam will be sending students to Honduras, while Makaya will be serving in San Francisco. She is passionate about the mission of StoveTeam and excited to be a part of the team!
