Offset your carbon emissions through the donation of a clean cookstove.

EACH JUSTA COOKSTOVE REDUCES CO2 EMISSIONS BY UP TO 15 TONS OVER ITS LIFESPAN, EQUIVALENT TO THE AVERAGE AMERICAN’S YEARLY CARBON FOOTPRINT!

$200 can provide one Justa cookstove, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 15 tons over its lifespan. Half of this cost provides the stove, and the other half pays for five years of monitoring, to ensure your credits are still being generated.

StoveTeam International has distributed over 76,300 clean, efficient cookstoves for families in Central America. A contribution to StoveTeam contributes directly toward a solution to climate change and deforestation, and improves the lives of a family in Central America, while helping a local entrepreneur build their business and their local economy.

A certified reduction in carbon emissions

The Justa cookstove produced by StoveTeam was originally designed in 1998 by a team from Aprovecho Research Center, which included StoveTeam’s Program Director Mike Hatfield.

In 2004 an organization called Proyecto Mirador began producing their variation of the Justa stove in Honduras, called the “Dos por Tres” or “2X3” stove. The 2X3 stove has been certified to reduce 15 tons of CO2 by The Gold Standard, the world leader in carbon offset certification.

The Gold Standard requires that its projects:

  • Contribute toward sustainable development

  • Require local stakeholder input and consultation

  • Require local monitoring and evaluation

  • Make a net-positive contribution to the environmental, economic and social welfare of the population hosting the project

The Gold Standard’s quality benchmarks are derived from the Kyoto Protocol and its methodology has been endorsed by over 80 NGOs and environmental organizations.

Despite the similarity of Proyecto Mirador’s 2X3 stove to StoveTeam’s Justa stove, we are currently in the process of securing our own carbon offset certification.
