Climate change
Climate change is expected to displace millions of people and scientists worry that we may be pushing the planet toward ecological collapse. Today we’re proud that StoveTeam’s mission is one of the best solutions we have to fight climate change and deforestation, while saving lives at the same time.
If you are interested in offsetting your personal or business emissions please contact info@stoveteam.org to receive information concerning our system of carbon offsetting to assure no double counting of carbon offsets.
Each $200 Justa cookstove we produce prevents up to 12 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, equivalent to the average American’s carbon footprint for an entire year.
This means you can offset your carbon footprint with a donation of just $17 per month. Thanks to the support of people like you, we’ve already saved almost one million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere!
Each stove you make possible also saves lives and makes healthy living possible for an average family of nearly eight people!
Open-fire cooking is a leading contributor to climate change
This video, created by NOVA, explores how CO2 and black carbon emitted by open cooking fires are a leading contributor to climate change.
Deforestation
Most open cooking fires burn all day long to cook for a large family, requiring a huge amount of wood. Families in these areas often spend 20 hours per week foraging for wood to keep their fire burning.
StoveTeam’s cookstoves reduce the amount of wood required to cook a meal by 50%.
An important part of the fight for the planet!
StoveTeam was founded as a humanitarian mission, to help save the world’s most vulnerable populations from the dangers of burns and smoke inhalation, which kills 4 million people each year. But today, we’re proud that this mission contributes equally toward a solution to climate change and deforestation.
Each Justa cookstove we build not only saves an average family of nearly eight people from the dangers of smoke and burns, and provides local employment where it’s needed most, it also contributes toward a solution to climate change by offsetting the equivalent to the average American’s annual carbon emissions.
