Chimney Monkey: Building Safer Homes Locally and Globally with StoveTeam International

At Chimney Monkey, our mission has always been rooted in ensuring the safety and comfort of every home we serve. As a trusted chimney and fireplace service provider for the North Shore of Chicago and surrounding areas, we take pride in delivering expert inspections, sweeps, repairs, and fireplace installations. But beyond our dedication to local safety, we believe in making a meaningful impact globally. This is why we are proud supporters of StoveTeam International.

Why Supporting StoveTeam International Matters

StoveTeam International's mission to provide safe, efficient stoves to families in Latin America is something that deeply resonates with us. In many communities, families cook over open fires, exposing themselves to harmful smoke and dangerous living conditions. As professionals in the hearth industry, we understand the importance of safe and efficient heating and cooking solutions. Just as we prioritize safety for our customers, StoveTeam International is working tirelessly to create safer environments for families in need.

We believe that supporting organizations like StoveTeam International isn't just charity—it's a responsibility. Safe cooking solutions can transform lives, reduce health risks, and empower families to thrive. Our involvement allows us to extend our values of safety and care beyond our local community to families who need it most.

Honored as Champion Retailer of the Year

We are incredibly honored to be recognized as StoveTeam International's Champion Retailer of the Year. Looking Ahead

Our support for StoveTeam International is only the beginning. We are committed to strengthening this partnership and finding more ways to contribute to global safety and sustainability. With the help of our customers in the North Shore of Chicago and beyond, we look forward to continuing this journey of giving back and building safer homes everywhere.

Thank you to StoveTeam International for this incredible honor and to our community for making this support possible. Together, we can make a lasting impact—one safe home at a time.

A simple solution to a complex problem

To date, projects producing StoveTeam’s cookstoves have produced more than 85,000 stoves, improving the lives of more than half a million people.

COOKSTOVES IMPROVE HEALTH

  • Indoor smoke is eliminated, while overall smoke is reduced by 86%.

  • Kids are no longer in danger of burns, respiratory illness, eye and skin problems.

  • Wood use is reduced by 50%, saving time for families, and especially children.

COOKSTOVES BENEFIT LOCAL ECONOMIES

  • Projects create jobs in the areas where they’re needed most, employing locals to help with stove distribution, bookkeeping and sales.

  • Built from all local materials such as concrete, pumice and tile. Projects stimulate economic growth by purchasing all stove materials from local sources.

  • Stove owners often boost their standard of living by starting local businesses using their cookstove.

COOKSTOVES IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Each stove saves up to 12 tons of CO2, helping to ensure sustainable communities for generations to come.

  • Wood use is reduced by 50%, saving forests from over-harvesting.

Each cookstove…

  1. Saves an average family of five to eight people from the dangers of smoke inhalation, which kills four million people each year, mostly women and children.

  2. Is built by local people in Central America using local materials, creating local jobs in areas that need them most.

  3. Saves up to 12 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, representing one of the most powerful solutions to climate change.

Doña Maria Ilia López Pérez stands with her Justa cookstove, one of over 600,000 people in Central America who are currently benefiting from cookstoves made by StoveTeam International.

On this increasingly connected planet, I believe the time has come for the hearth industry to take a small part on the world stage.
— Craig Gutowsky, The Foundry, Ontario CA
We decided to get involved because we want to be a company that gives back, not just to our local community, but to share that with as many people as we can. We’re small, but StoveTeam helps us to have a big impact.
