ways To Support StoveTeam
Together We Can Reimagine What It Means To Cook With Smoke
Join us in our mission to reduce open-fire cooking in Central America by producing and placing fuel-efficient cookstoves in indigenous homes in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. StoveTeam’s unique model focuses on providing safe, sustainable cooking solutions for families that honor traditional cooking practices. StoveTeam’s Justa cookstoves reduce smoke in homes by almost 100% and fuel use by over 50%. Our cookstoves were designed with indigenous families in mind and celebrate the traditional dishes and cooking practices of Central America. The large “plancha” (griddle) is perfect for making tortillas and provides plenty of space for many dishes to be prepared at once. Pots can also be placed directly in the firebox so that foods can be kissed with the essential smoke flavor. Our cookstove design is also environmentally and child-friendly, saving as much as 30 tons of CO2 over the life of a stove and preventing burns, especially for small children. With your help, we can train and employ more stove builders and place more lifesaving stoves in the homes of families who need them the most.
We are also excited to announce the release of our special edition cookbook, "Smoke, The Flavor Of Guatemala". This book celebrates the flavor and culture of Guatemala while illustrating the global issue of open-fire cooking. Enjoy over 70 recipes from local cooks in Guatemala and stories of StoveTeam and the families whose kitchens and homes were transformed with the addition of StoveTeam's fuel-efficient cookstoves.

More About “Smoke, The Flavor of Guatemala”
This book will teach you about SMOKE and the devastating human health and environmental crises created by open-fire cooking and how that affects all of us. This is the story of how one grandmother, Nancy Hughes, found a solution to provide safe, affordable, fuel-efficient cookstoves.
This is a story of joy! In it we share recipes that highlight the agricultural and culinary bounty of Guatemala. We tell of the cooks and families who cultivate, collect and prepare their meals, passing knowledge through food from generation to generation.
And finally, this is a story about you... How the potential step you take today can bring positive impact to our world. How together we can make a difference. We hope you enjoy this collection of recipes, stories and images that show the beauty that is Guatemala.
A generous donation from the Christadelphian Meal-a- Day of the America's Fund sponsored the printing and production of this cookbook. The retail value is $50 per copy.
